Crew's Art Show

Crew's Preschool hosted an "Art Show" on Monday night to showcase the kids artwork!  The show started in the church where each child received a gold medal for their beautiful materpieces.  One piece of art was hung on each side of church.  We then walked over to the preschool building and two more beautiful pieces of artwork were displayed in his classroom. We spoke with his teachers for a little bit and then headed out.
I now have even more magnificent art pieces to display in the house.
We are so proud of our little artist!

Austin Family Music Festival

This weekend we traveled out to an old historic farm- Pioneer Farm, to enjoy Austin Family Music Festival. I don't know if it's an Austin thing or not, but Saturday mornings on PBS a group called the Biscuit Brothers host a show. It's taped out on this old historic farm and this was a fundrasing event for the show.  They had all sorts of activites from a musical petting zoo, horse rides, hayrides, live kids bands, and finally the Biscuit Brothers. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed a nice day out on the farm with some of our friends.

A ride on a BIG horse!

And then he discovered the AMBULANCE.
His new obsession, did NOT want to get out at all.
I think he would have gone home with the paramedics if they would have let him, ha!

A musical hayride around the farm with one of the Biscuit Brothers.

Just thought this was a neat pic.

And finally- the big Bicuit Brothers performance!

But then Crew discovered that a FIRETRUCK had arrived and he could have cared less about the
Biscuit Brothers- ha!

We kept telling him he need to get out,  his response was-
"No, Mommy, I'm Workin"

And he ended the day trying on the big firemans hat!

Scary...

On Saturday night I was turning off our front porch light when I noticed a car parked in front of our house. Their brights were in and they were taking pictures with their iPhone. At first I was suspicious, thinking they were taking pics of our house, only to notice a second later there was a huge SNAKE right at the end if our driveway. I screamed and sent Brett out to take a look. Since it was dark he wanted me to hold the flashlight- sorry but I'm not getting anywhere NEAR a snake! Brett threw a brick and knocked it out. We text our neighbors and they came out to help too. While the wife and I were standing way way back, the husbands killed the HUGE- 3 foot long COPPERHEAD snake!! Ewwwww!!
I know we live in the hill country, and our house backs up to a green let and a canyon- but really??? It's kinda something you hope you will NEVER see!!

Well, Brett put the dead snake in a bag and showed Crew the next morning so he knows what to look out for. Our neighbor showed his kids as well as all the kids on the street- so I think it made a big impact. Crew cried seeing it the second time and he keeps saying, "snakes are bad- run away!"
Glad we got this one and got to educate the kids. I took Bella to get the rattlesnake vaccine yesterday- that's all they have, but we figured better than nothing. Glad mr copperhead is gone- and if we see any other snakes they better watch out- a little TOO close for comfort!!

(sorry for the graphic images- now at least u know what to look for in case you see a copperhead)

Easter 2012

We spent Easter in Austin this year. Grancie came in on Friday night and spent the weekend with us. Sunday morning Crew woke up to his Easter basket full of goodies! The bunny filled the backyard with tons of eggs. Crew had alot of fun picking them up, but after getting about 10 he was ready to be done. (Guess the bunny only needs to hide a few next year, ha!)

We went a beautiful Easter service at church with an amazing choir and hand bell performance. What a great way to celebrate that Jesus is Risen!

After church we had reservations at Lakeway resort for Easter brunch. The Easter bunny was there and they also had a petting zoo. The dining room overlooked Lake Travis so it was absolutely gorgeous! The food was great, and we were all stuffed by the time we left. We spent the afternoon resting and watching the Masters. Hope everyone had a great Easter!

Finding his Easter Basket.

The bunny hid lots of eggs in our backyard.

This is so fun!

Adding another egg to the basket.

Yea, more eggs!

Come one lets eat!

Holding a lizard- this lasted for one second...
and then he wanted NOTHING to do with the petting zoo.

Sweet Berry Farm & Coloring Eggs

We had such a fun Easter Weekend. Grancie came in to celebrate, the weather was wonderful, so we decided to soak in the fun! Saturday morning we headed to Marble Falls to pick strawberries at Sweet Berry Farms. Along the way, we stopped at the famous Bluebonnet Cafe for lunch. Of course the line was out the door- but luckily it moved fairly quickly. And wow, it was def worth the wait, the food was awesome!!!
We then headed to the farm. This was the same place we went in the fall to see pumpkins, but it looked totally different with rows and rows of strawberries. They give you a box and off you go- you pay by the pound for as many strawberries as you pick. Crew had so much fun- he wanted to pick them ALL- so we had to regulate and make sure he was only picking the ripe ones- ha! But, fresh strawberries are amazing! They really do taste different than the ones in the stores, they are so much juicier! The farm also sells homemade treats made from the berries. We enjoyed fresh strawberry ice cream and an ice cream smoothie- yum yum!!!

Crew also enjoyed some of the other activities at the farm including jumping on the "bubbles", riding the barrel train, and his favorite- feeding the goats. What a great trip it was! We are already looking forward to heading out there again next month when the blackberries are in season to pick some of those!

That night Crew dyed his Easter eggs and we were all ready for a big Easter Sunday!

Yum Yum!=)

It was so nice it wasn't even crowded, Crew didn't wait to in line for any activities.
