We finally got to celebrate Crew's big 1st birthday this weekend and oh my goodness we had so much fun!! It was so wonderful to have our family in from Dallas and Houston to celebrate with us! It made the day extra special! And, our good friend's the Wilson's even made the long trip from Midland to be here for the day, what a treat!
The party was held at Zilker Park in downtown Austin! I decided to go with a train theme and I couldn't be more happy with how everything turned out! We even got a picnic spot right in front of Barton Springs Pool- beautiful!!!
My mother in law made the adorable invites, all the tags, and printables (let me know if you want her contact if- she is soo creative!). We served a pasta salad, fruit salad, chips, and cha cha chicken salad sandwiches shaped like trains for lunch. After lunch we watched Crew eat every last bite of cupcake!! (it was a little scary because some bees came after him wanting all that sugar so we had to keep fanning them off, but we survived, without ONE bite!!) We then rode the "Zilker Zephyr" around the park to Town Lake and back! This was definetly Beau and Crew's favorite, but I'm pretty sure everyone loved the amazing ride along the river! We then opened gifts and the party was over! Crew made it... survived the heat, train ride and everything! Thank goodness we gave him a wagon and he sat in it to open gifts, that definetly helped too!!
We spent saturday night catching up with family, resting, watching football, and Brett spent 2- hours putting together Crew's new favortite toy, his Cozy Coupe! (Thanks Grammy & Papa!) Then we served a nice brunch on Sunday morning and took the family out to see where we are building our new house! (Yes, we are building, we signed all the contracts so I will post pics and info soon..)
What a wonderful weekend we had celebrating with those we love! I know Crew will be too little to remember everything, but hopefully with all the pictures, he will know how much he is loved by us all! God Bless you Sweet Crew! Happy 1st Birthday! I'm so glad mommy is feeling better so we could finally celebrate- even if it was a month late- it turned out PERFECT, even better than I pictured it!!!!
(P.S.- Ok, so for over a year I have been oohing and ahhing, dreaming, over a DSLR camera. For my bday I got the Canon Rebel T1i and this was my first time to use it. I went a little overboard on the pics, but just had so much fun taking them! The quality is AMAZING!! I thought my point and shoot took good pics, and we were comparing some last night and Brett even said the old camera pics now look a little blurry! Guess it was worth it with all the pictures I take! I would highly recommend the investment!!)
